The beetle's hard shell

deflected the soft bread crumbs—

they fell to the floor.

Along the amphora's rim,

Cancer pursued the beetle.

When the beetle jumped

to the nearest water jar,

Cancer leapt as well.

As they circled the twelve jars,

a strange sound like music rang.

The beetle panicked,

lunging at the crab with teeth

coated in poison.

Cancer lifted the beetle,

saving the water supply.
